Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women (University of Delhi), under the Department of Applied Psychology, is offering an online add-on Professional Certificate Course in Stress and Anxiety Management in collaboration with Utsaah Psychological Services Private Limited. This will be the tenth batch of the course.

Established in 1969 in memory of the distinguished academician and statesman Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherji, the college is known for its academic environment and modern infrastructure. Utsaah Psychological Services Private Limited was founded with the objective of promoting awareness and understanding of psychology and mental health in India. The organisation currently works in the areas of mental health, education, and research. Utsaah also publishes Psychologs, India’s first psychology magazine.
Stress and anxiety have become common experiences in everyday life, making it important to understand how to manage them effectively. This course is designed to help students develop practical counselling skills that can be applied in both personal and professional settings.
The course begins with an understanding of the meaning, nature, and cognitive appraisal of stress, along with the ways individuals respond to stressful situations. It further explores the behavioural aspects of stress and its influence on work performance and day-to-day functioning.
Along with theoretical understanding, participants will learn stress intervention methods and evidence-based strategies for anxiety and stress management. The course also introduces counselling approaches relevant to different stages of life, including childhood, adolescence, and old age.
This certificate program can also benefit professional counsellors who wish to revisit and update their understanding of current counselling practices and approaches. The focus of the course is on developing counselling skills, interpersonal effectiveness, personal awareness, and understanding the counselling process in practical settings.
